Founded in 2002 and named in honor of Judge Theodore R. Johns Sr., The library plan is a simple linear plan divided by a whimsical glass and wood block wall into adult and children’s areas. The southern exposure if filled with bounced sunlight due to the large overhang while upper northern windows provide fill daylighting. Structural beams are overlaid with drywall curved forms repeated in a rhythmic patter to conceal the continuous bands of fluorescent up-lights. Wood tones and bright rich colors provide a palette for relaxation and break from more traditionally designed libraries.
