Architectural Alliance, Inc., was commissioned by the Diocese of Beaumont and St. Joseph Catholic Church Livingston, Texas, to complete a master plan for the church campus to include a new sanctuary, covered drop-off and connection with the existing church facilities. The elevated site and adjacency to the four lane Highway 190 presented an opportunity to bring the site into view as a faith statement in the community and for pride of membership. Windowed courtyards each side of the chancel and congregational nave seating filtered horizontal light while a continuous clearstory of Low-E obscure glass filled the church with natural lighting. The new elevated covered porte-cochere invited visitors to enter the central parking court area while providing covered drop off opportunities during inclement weather and liturgical support for funeral services. The bell town and main entrance were purposely positioned off the central parking and gathering areas for inspiration from the bells and congregational fellowship.
