The City of Beaumont worked with AAI for the re-design of the existing 1970’s Miller Library interior that was designed by Beaumont firm Gordy-Huffheines. The classic modernist style of the building with cast wood formed exterior wall panels, copper roof and exposed heavy timber exposed trusses deck already provided the background and focus for the update design. The scope included relocating and adapting existing shelving systems to open the library for better exposure of the great architectural elements. The color palette was derived from the park grounds surround the park including images of grass incorporated into the end panels of the book stacks, light green leaves of early spring trees inspiring the color for large round exposed air-conditioning ducts, custom designed furniture, relocated children’s area murals from the park’s playgrounds.
